40% Rent Burden Calculator


Calculates HAP, tenant share, and whether a proposed lease passes the HUD 40% initial rent burden test per 24 CFR Part 982.

ℹ️  When does the 40% test apply?  Only at initial leasing (first assisted lease in a unit), and only when Gross Rent exceeds the Payment Standard. Rent increases after move-in are not subject to the 40% test.
